Could you please share your experiences around being diagnosed with skin cancer? What diagnosis did you receive and how long ago?
At 33 years old I was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma in April 2026.
Initially, I was told it was nothing, so I didn’t think much of it. But over the course of 5 years, it continued to grow, so I decided to see a new dermatologist, who immediately wanted to biopsy it.
How has your relationship with the sun changed following your diagnosis?
My relationship with the sun has definitely changed. I used to not think twice about exposure, but now I’m much more mindful of how I protect my skin.
I still love being outside, especially with my kids, but I’ve learned how to enjoy it in a way that feels safer and more intentional.
It’s less about fear and more about taking care of myself in a way I didn’t before.
What does living a sun-safe life mean to you, and how has sun protection impacted your confidence or comfort when spending time outdoors?
Living a sun-safe life means being more mindful and intentional, without feeling like I have to avoid the outdoors.
Since my diagnosis, sun protection has actually made me feel more confident and comfortable outside. I’m not second-guessing or worrying as much, because I know I’m taking better care of my skin.
It feels less like a restriction and more like a form of self care.
What is your favourite Solbari product and why?
Tough decision, but I REALLY love the hats, the quality is unmatched and cute.
What advice would you give to someone who hasn’t yet embraced sun protection in their routine?
My biggest advice would be to start small and not overthink it. I used to not think much about sun protection, but now I focus on simple, consistent habits that fit into my everyday life.
It’s not about being perfect, it’s just about being more mindful and consistent.
