Our mission is to inspire and help people lead a sun smart life

Our story

At Solbari, our Founder & CEO, Johanna Young, knows firsthand the toll that skin cancer and melanoma can take on individuals and their loved ones. After seeing the effects of these illnesses through her work as a volunteer with skin cancer charities, Johanna was motivated to take action.

Did you know that 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer by the age of 70 and that more people are diagnosed with skin cancer each year in the U.S. than all other cancers combined?

That’s why at Solbari, we’re dedicated to being global leaders in skin cancer research, prevention, detection, and treatment.

Prevention is the solution

The good news is that skin cancer is highly preventable, with 95% of cases being avoidable through sun protection measures. Dermatologists and medical experts recommend wearing sun-protective clothing as the first line of defence.

However, not all fabrics are created equal when it comes to sun protection. Research shows that a regular white cotton t-shirt may only provide sun protection equivalent to SPF5 sunscreen, leaving your skin exposed to harmful sun rays.

That’s where Solbari comes in. Johanna didn’t want her loved ones to become another statistic, so she created Solbari to provide high-quality, lightweight, and breathable UPF50+ sun protective clothing, sun hats and accessories. With Solbari, you can enjoy the sun while protecting your skin from harmful UV rays
